Advantages of water-based composite adhesives
2020-11-30
1. Water-based composite adhesives exhibit good composite strength. The molecular weight of water-based composite adhesives is much larger, tens of times that of polyurethane adhesives. Their adhesive force is mainly based on van der Waals forces, which is physical adsorption; therefore, a small amount of adhesive can achieve high composite strength. Compared with traditional soluble adhesives, the adhesion of water-based composite adhesives is much smaller than that of solvent-based adhesives.
2. Products laminated with water-based composite adhesives are softer than those with solvent adhesives, making them more suitable for aluminum foil lamination. One-component water-based adhesives are softer than two-component polyurethane adhesives. When fully cured, polyurethane adhesives are very hard, while water-based adhesives are very soft. Therefore, the softness and elasticity of water-based adhesives are more suitable for aluminum-coated film composite materials and are less likely to cause transfer of the aluminum-coated film.
3. Water-based composite adhesives do not require curing. They can be cut after leaving the machine. In actual production, achieving a high-quality appearance without the need for curing mainly depends on the company's equipment capabilities. Currently, most domestically produced equipment will have varying degrees of white spots when using water-based adhesives. This is related to the drying capacity and running speed of the equipment. It is recommended to check the appearance after leaving the machine. If the white spots are dense, it is best to 40-45 degrees Celsius for curing 3-4 hours. This can effectively ensure the appearance of the composite film. Most water-based composite adhesives and products with composite aluminum-plated structures used in the market are single-component systems and do not require the addition of a curing agent. Their composite strength continuously improves with changes in time and temperature. The initial composite viscosity of products just off the machine is relatively low. After placing it for 4-5 hours, its strength will significantly improve. Such excellent product performance advantages allow for subsequent slitting, and delamination of the aluminum-coated film, tunneling, and other quality problems will not occur during bag making.
